Social Security Administration, Retired

Experience:  33 years with Social Security Administration.  Initially began my career in 1966 several months after Medicare started in July.   Prior to SSI starting in January of 1974 I was working on special projects to find eligible beneficiaries in our service area.  I started out as a GS-2 clerical and retired as a GS-11 Claims Representative taking and  processing claims for retirement and disability as well as fraud, overpayments.  On several occasions I visited nursing homes and also gave speeches.  I represented Social Security at the County Fair and State Fair as well as giving speeches.  Trained new employees and worked as a mentor.

Education:  High School Graduate and some college courses.  Training for my new positions at work.

Board Memberships, Organizations, Clubs or Associations affiliations:  Previously on ARC Downriver board.  I was on the Wayne County Parent Advisory Committee and served as President for several years.  I was a Parent Trainer for C.A.U.S.E.  (Citizens Alliance for Special Education)  for over 10 years.  Intense training in Lansing for this position then when an organization wanted a speaker I, either alone or with another parent trainer, would go to give a speech and answer questions.

Personal Passions:  The mentally and physically disabled population.
