Why do I serve on the STEP Board of Directors? I have supported a brother who participated in STEP programs for over 20 years. I have seen the great work that STEP does to promote Self-Determination, Community Inclusion, and independent living. It is my honor to continue to advocate for STEP and the special people that we serve.

Why do I serve on the STEP Board of Directors? I believe in STEP’s Mission and hope my professional skills contribute; in some small part, to its ongoing success. I enjoy meeting STEP’s clients and learning about their amazing accomplishments.

Why do I serve on the STEP Board of Directors? I serve on the board to honor and uphold the legacy of the parents and advocates who founded STEP. I believe it’s part of my life’s mission to speak up for those whose voices are too often unheard. STEP’s mission deeply aligns with my purpose: to support individuals with disabilities in pursuing their goals and being fully included in the community with dignity and respect.

Why do I serve on the STEP Board of Directors? I have always been impressed with the quality of care that STEP provides its members. It offers a variety of programs to meet their needs but also provides members with opportunities to use their many talents. STEP’s staff consistently treats members with kindness and respect in the way that one would treat a friend or loved one.

Why do I serve on the STEP Board of Directors? I am honored and blessed to serve on the STEP board because as an educator for the past 25 years, I have continuously advocated for all marginalized communities. I firmly believe all individuals with disabilities and their families deserve compassion and support, to live more independent and abundant lives. I look forward to making a positive contribution, as a board member to fulfill the goals and mission of this outstanding STEP organization.

Why do I serve on the STEP Board of Directors? I serve on the board because I am very passionate about providing opportunities and services that enhance the lives of people with disabilities. Also, STEP provided me with my first job opportunity and I want to give back to the organization.

Why do I serve on the STEP Board of Directors? I have always had a special place in my heart for community members with “unique abilities”. This is my way of giving back in a big way.

Why do I serve on the STEP Board of Directors? Our 3rd child was born with spina bifida and was mentally and physically disabled. He passed away in 1999. I have continued to serve because the developmentally disabled need and deserve our support!

I serve on the board because I have a family member who has attended STEP for many years and I believe in supporting STEP’s mission to support individuals in the pursuit of their chosen goals and the achievement of personal satisfaction in their lives.

I serve on the STEP Board of Directors because I am deeply committed to supporting individuals with physical and mental disabilities in living fuller, more independent lives. With over three decades of experience as a healthcare professional, I bring both expertise and a passion for compassionate care to help advance STEP’s mission.

Why do I serve on the STEP Board of Directors? I serve on the STEP board because STEP has been a vital part of my brothers life for more than 20 years. I’ve witnessed the care, dignity and purpose STEP brings to the individuals it supports. Being on the board is my way of giving back and helping ensure that all clients and families receive the same level of support and opportunity that has meant so much to mine.

Why do I serve on the STEP Board of Directors? I participate as a STEP member. I attend classes at the Dearborn North Resource Center when I am not working at one of the Thrift Stores and I also participate in social activities like dances, plays, and the STEPS To Success fundraisers. I need to speak for people like me whose voices need to be heard.

As a special needs sibling, I’ve seen firsthand the importance of inclusion, advocacy, and meaningful support – not just for individuals, but for families as a whole. Serving on the STEP Board allows me to contribute to an organization that truly makes a difference in people’s lives, and I’m honored to help guide its mission, expand its impact, and ensure that every person feels valued, capable, and supported.
